Can I have a moment of silence?

Thank you.

My camera died. Three and a half years old, and I had nursed it like a baby, but it still conked out on me, and right in the middle of an important product photo shoot, damn its ingratitude.

But, it was good to me, in its own fashion. It was my first DSLR, and taught me all the fundamentals of photography. I’m not ready to move on, but I’m moving on. Goodbye D80, hello D5100. I’ll keep the D80 (once it’s been repaired and serviced) as a back up camera. I suppose it will be nice to have a camera that I can carry everywhere without fear of damage, loss or theft. Since our business is utterly reliant on weekly photo shoots, I have always been nervous of taking the camera abroad, etc, in case something went wrong with it.

Ha! That’s what you get for being cautious! A thousand missed photo ops, and a wrecked camera anyway!!

These photos are from one trip I did take the D80 on, down to the South of France. These cars were at a little flea market. The photos are SOOC. I hope the D5100 treats me as well.

  1. oh nooo! i do some photo editing in my spare time, and when i upgraded from photoshop 7 to CS5 it was ABOMINABLE at first. it seemed like all the actions i used to use would no longer do the same thing, everything looked grainy and the colors were all wrong…technology is awful sometimes. i can’t imagine having to spend all that money only to go through all that frustration. have some tea, snuggle your kitties, and feel better! ):

  2. Oh noo!
Sorry to hear more tales of camera (and software) woes ๐Ÿ™

On the positive side I didn’t quite spend all my money at Unravel which means that when you’re ready to do a shop update I’ll be hoping to snaffle some goodies ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope your software arrives tomorrow and that it all loads and then works smoothly and painlessly for you…

  3. What an upsetting situation. But !!! should you make a surprise party, aka shop update on Tuesday for us, your devoted customers, with NO photos at all, just a wee hint about the colour in the usual description- Iยดm pretty sure it will be a sell-out, as usual. Keep going, Dee !

  4. Big hugs and a cuppa tea (or something stronger if you prefer) while you suss the new equipment. I absolutely feel your pain – I can’t get the Mac App store because my stuff needs updating, like, alllllllll my stuff.

Let it be said that Posh commerce doesn’t suck at all – you rock it!

  5. Oh, ouch! Thanks for the warning. I have a Nikon mega zoom, but want to get a DSLR. I’ll look into a different brand.
For what it’s worth, the pics you posted today look great
