Come to Momma

Look what the tooth fairy (and by the tooth fairy, I really mean you, since its your money that paid for it) brought me:

Isn’t it pretty? Isn’t it shiny? Aren’t I in love?

I was dithering over whether to get a new camera, and talking it over with my Ravelry crew, and they talked me into it. Against my will. They’re good like that.

Anyway, I think it’s about time Posh Yarn had a Posh Camera. My little Canon was adequate, but only just. I got frustrated with the yarn photos every single update. I want the photos to be so crisp, so clear, so true to life, that you feel like you could reach into the screen and grab them.

And more than that. This blog has been getting me down for some time. Yes, I know that you come here for the witty and sparkling prose, but sometimes all that white space gave me the blues. It looked tired. So, let’s get some pictures on these walls, liven the place up a bit.

Just as soon as I’ve figured out how to switch it on.

    Have fun with it. :)

Congratulations, and welcome to the Road to Ruin. My husband started out with a shiny new Nikon DSLR (the D200) and one lens. And then he needed another lens. And another one…and, oddly enough, I never hear a word about my stash.

    Have fun!

Ooooo I am really pleased for you and just a tiny bit jealous! I have been dreaming of a new camera for ages too - I hope you take lots of gorgeous pictures and share them with us!

  4. Elizabeth Says:

If we’ve paid for it does it mean we get to use/borrow it too?

I’m looking forward to seeing new pictures, both of yarn and miscellaeneous stuff.

Just what the doctor ordered, I’d say Dee. May you have much enjoyment with your new toy and we will no doubt reap the benefits.
Looking foward to the results of your first photo shoot.

If it’s anything like my Nikon D70 - and I’m assuming it’s the newer version- then you will love it.

  9. fourchette Says:

ooohhh - I’ve been eying this one up too… do you think I could use my normal SLR lenses from my Nikon F70 on it?… *is not jealous* ;D

Enjoy the new toy (*wants to see pics taken with it too!!*)

Um, Dee…? Isn’t this missing something, like a lens?

Do we need to keep up our yarn purchases, in order to enable the next camera installment?!

    ;-)

PS, I vote for cat and kittens plus more yarn pictures! Show us what it can do!

  12. Dee Says:

Oh I got a fancy schmancy lens with it too, cost as much as the camera! Nikon AF-S DX 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G VR Lens.

  13. Rachl Says:

I’m drooling. Almost as much as I do over your perfectly-adequate-but-soon-to-be-phenomenal yarn pictures. :)

Funny, in the picture it looks like there’s an evil face in the sensor. Teehee.

  14. Vicky Says:

    Great stuff!
It will make such a difference to you. I can’t believe how much I’ve learned and how much better my photography is, since I got my ‘proper’ camera.

  15. Hazy Says:

Lovely new toy. I wish you luck in learning to use it. I still don’t have a clue about our digital slr.

As for the site looking boring, I could help you out with a couple of plugins that will brighten your sidebar and comments a little. Just let me know if you need some help!

  16. 2ply's husband Says:

Good choice! Fiddle around with the white balance to get best colour out of the camera and you’ll have loads of fun. Enjoy!
