Darn it! Or maybe I should be pleased about this, because someone might have missed out last night. I have found four more skeins! I’ve added them back into the shop

26.12.19

Oh, we have a glorious bingefest of an update for you, for the last update of 2019!!

Orphans!

Sale yarn!

New bases!

And everything at bargain prices. It’s time for a Posh Spree!!!

So, first things first, let’s talk prices….

The new bases (which I’ve been longing to announce details of) are reduced by 10%.

The orphans are reduced by 20%.

And the rest of the sale yarn is reduced by 30%!!

If you are new to orphan updates, here is what you need to know about them:

There aren’t any photos or colour descriptions with orphans, as we sell them lucky dip style, but you will know what type of yarn you are buying (ie Sylvia Sock). There is usually only one skein per colourway, so if you buy more than one skein in a yarn base, you will probably not get matching skeins, but we do occasionally have twin orphans, so you may get a matching pair (or very rarely, triplets!).

Many of the skeins have been overdyed (which means, double dyed), so they will be either dark or very saturated, with the complexity and depth that you get from overdyed yarn. There are also some lighter skeins that ended up as orphans for one reason or another. Orphans are not faulty or seconds, that is not the reason they are reduced in price, but because there are no photos.

Now to details of the new bases, which deserve a post of their own. These bases are all British fibres, spun in Britain, at the John Arbon Mill. I am super excited about this, and the yarn is utterly gorgeous. Woolly, soft, the perfect balance (I think I could even wear them next to my skin, and I’m quite sensitive to any hint of prickle in a yarn). Here’s the full profile for each of the bases:

Norah Sock

Limited Edition. A sock weight yarn, spun in the UK, made from 60% Exmoor Blueface, 20% Corriedale, 10% Zwartbles, 10% nylon. 440 yards (400m) per 100g. Recommended needle size is 2.75mm (US 2). £14.40 (including VAT), £12.00 (excluding VAT) per 100g skein.

Tessa Sock

Limited Edition. A sock weight yarn, spun in the UK, made from 50% Exmoor Blueface, 30% Devon Bluefaced Leicester, 20% Devon Wensleydale. 418 yards (383m) per 100g. Recommended needle size is 3.25mm (US 3). £16.80 (including VAT), £14.00 (excluding VAT) per 100g skein.

Tessa DK

Limited Edition. A DK weight yarn, spun in the UK, made from 50% Exmoor Blueface, 30% Devon Bluefaced Leicester, 20% Devon Wensleydale. 250 yards (230m) per 100g. Recommended needle size is 4mm (US 6). £16.80 (including VAT), £14.00 (excluding VAT) per 100g skein.

I’m really happy to launch these during our Winter sale, because I would love for as many of you as possible to try these new bases out. If you are wondering what differences there are between the bases, I would say that Norah is a tiny bit crisper, and Tessa is a slightly fluffier. It has more of a halo, and a slightly softer handle. All three bases will look marvellous in cable knits, but I can also see the two sock weights making wonderful rustic shawls too. Not to mention socks!!!
