Shop Update 21.02.10 – Part I

We’ve got three delicious new yarns to debut this week! One is a luxurious merino/silk/cashmere lace weight, and the other two are dk weight merinos, one superwash, and one organic. Here are the details:

Valerie

A cobweb lace weight yarn, made from 70% merino, 20% silk, 10% cashmere. 1300 yards per 100g. £15.00 per 100g skein.

Helena DK

A dk (sports weight) yarn, made from organic merino. 250 yards (225m) per 100g. Recommended needle size is 4mm (US 6). £11.00 per skein.

Elinor DK

A dk (sports weight) yarn, made from superwash merino. 250 yards (225m) per 100g. Recommended needle size is 4mm (US 6). £12.00 per skein.

Helena DK is sort of new/old. Its the same specifications as the original Helena DK, but from a different supplier. It’s essentially the same though, which is why I’ve re-used the name. So, here’s the first of my faves from this week’s selection:

Miranda Cobweb Dream A Little Dream

Diana Cobweb Shoots & Leaves

My trust sidekick Emma is off work sick this week, so I’m playing first base, second base, third base…… so, this is just a quickie blog post.

Visiting: Ute Von Cappeln, one of our customers who makes delightful soaps.

Reading: The Blackstone Key. If you like stories like Jamaica Inn you will love this.

Watching: The Big Bang Theory, season 3. Love, love, love Sheldon.

Listening: Jubilee, by Grant Lee Buffalo. And especially to Truly, Truly and Everybody Needs A Little Sanctuary.

And also The House At Pooh Corner, which I listen to nearly every week while doing the yarn photos, because no matter how many times I listen to it, it never fails to make me laugh.

Wanting: a reindeer rug. But I’m not sure how the cats would take to it……

Thinking: about running. I’ve clawed my way back to my pre-xmas fitness, and am up to 2 mile runs now. My aim is to get to 5 miles by spring. Eeeeeek.

Eating: Jamaican Rice & Peas. Made with coconut milk and kidney beans, but without the bacon. Mmmmmmmmm.

Drinking: Lady Grey tea with a dash of milk (soy). The idea of milk in Lady Grey was yuck until I tried it, and now I’m a convert.

Knitting: Cat Socks. Because I need some crazy socks in my life.

Shop Update 14.02.10 – Part III

We’re trying an experiment this week, in response to some requests from customers. Some of the yarn, instead of being sold in individual skeins, is being sold in sweater packs – 7 x 100g skeins, closely matched in colour. I say closely matched as a warning, as with any hand dyed yarn you really need to knit this up alternating the skeins, because no matter how well matched the yarn looks in the skein, when you get to the end of one skein and start another, you may well get a stripe of colour.

The shop preview is up, and the update goes live as always at 7pm on Sunday. See you then!
